Announcing the first all-female cohort of eHA Academy

Reconfirming its commitment to gender equality, eHealth Africa partners with Women Who Code, Afrilabs, Startup Kano, and others for its January 2022 cohort.

Kano, Nigeria — November 30, 2021 — eHealth Africa (eHA) has opened applications for the first female-only cohort of its free tech skills training program, eHA Academy. With this cohort, eHA hopes to ignite the careers of future female leaders in the African tech scene.

As one of the few free tech training programs in Kano State, Nigeria, eHA Academy has always prioritized gender equality in its program and reserved spaces in previous cohorts for women. This bold step to host a female-only cohort further conveys the commitment of the organization to provide more opportunities and reduce barriers for women interested in starting tech careers.

We are excited about this cohort, to play our part in closing the gender gap within the tech space, we will continuously work with our strategic partners to create an experience for participants that includes mentoring, internship, possible job matching, and technical support for potential tech talents and technopreneurs through the eHA Academy platform.
- Oladele Oloruntoba, New Business Development Manager.

eHA Academy’s 10-week intensive program will offer participants basic web development skills in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The Academy uses a combination of coursework, workshops, mentoring, and a capstone project to train participants and help jumpstart their careers. Participants who successfully complete the training will be matched to internships in software development, quality assurance engineering, business analysis, and UI/UX design.

The Academy is always 100% free, this year for the first time eHA raised donations in cash and in-kind from crowdfunding and strategic partners to cover the costs of the program for participants. However, interested participants must meet certain requirements to apply. Participants will be selected from applicants who successfully complete assessments and interviews with the selection panel.
