The World Food Programme (WFP) uses either food or cash transfers to support vulnerable populations affected by the violence in Northeast Nigeria. Throughout 2017 and 2018, WFP assistance reached over 1.2 million people every month. Part of this food assistance includes the provision of specialized nutritious food for children under 5, pregnant and lactating mothers.

WFP also supports other humanitarian actors working in Nigeria by addressing logistics gaps, including storage augmentation in key operational areas.

In order to achieve these objectives, WFP partners with implementing partners such as eHA to setup and manage warehouse facilities across the region.

eHA’s understanding of the local context was instrumental in assisting WFP in identifying local food suppliers and suitable warehouse facilities in Kano State - warehouse facilities which eHA upgraded and manages to WFP standards.

Currently, eHA manages food warehouses in Kano with over 12,200 square meters of floor space.

eHA's role

  • Identified and secured suitable warehouse facilities in Kano

  • Upgraded warehouse facilities to WFP standards

  • Manage operations at the various warehouses to ensure proper receipt, storage and dispatch of food items with minimal loses

  • Maintain proper inventory of all items received, stored and dispatched

  • Share regular reports with WFP and the Logistics Sector on warehouse operations
