INSIGHTS: Emerging Trends and opportunities in Health Information Management Systems

According to the World Health Organization, Health Information Systems may be used to generate information that can enable decision-makers at all levels of the health system to identify problems and needs, make evidence-based decisions on health policy, and allocate scarce resources optimally.

As highlighted by WHO, Health Information Systems (HIS) has to do with generating accurate  information that will enable decision-makers at all levels of the health system to identify problems and needs, make evidence-based decisions on health policy and allocate scarce resources optimally.  Generally, Health Information Systems are digital systems with accessible data from various sources which are expected to be  used legally and ethically  to generate strategic information for the benefit of public health.

Despite this, developing countries seem to be experiencing challenges around modern day technologies, inaccurate data, data importation challenges and interoperability. This has no doubt impacted on the quality of the Health Information Management System and affects quality healthcare delivery.

In this vein, the 17th episode of Insights Webinar with support from iMMAP will focus on the trends and opportunities in Health Information Management Systems in a bid to improve healthcare delivery especially in Low and Medium Income Countries.  eHealth Africa will partner with IMMAP and other stakeholders to host and amplify emerging trends, identify ways to explore opportunities and chat pathways to address challenges that could impact on Health Information System strengthening.

We look forward to your contributions in what will be another impactful episode of Insights Webinar!
